Interstate Resources Timber Division is committed to the support of and adherence to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). The goal in our forestry practices is to conserve soil, air and water quality in conjunction with protecting wildlife and fish habitats.

Interstate Resources purchases all wood fiber – pine pulpwood, chip-n-saw (CNS), saw timber and biomass - from private landowners, since we do not own company timberlands. Our timber plant, Newport Timber, provides pine sawwood to our small log sawmill, RB Lumber, both in Riceboro, GA. RB Lumber manufactures quality southern yellow pine lumber.

Newport Timber’s wood procurement operations are independently certified under the SFI Fiber Sourcing Requirements Program. All our wood suppliers and loggers are encouraged to become trained under the Master Timber Harvester and Education program. We are committed to environmental stewardship of the forest, and we seek to assure that our mills receive fiber from sustainable sources.
